Stay Tuned Blog Tour Day 5, and FINAL REVIEW :)

On air in...three, two, ....

Hello everyone, well I DID IT!! I accomplished my goal for the week.  I was able to study for finals, get over my last ever (!!!!) Spanish test, help with the kiddies in elementary school yesterday, and along the way finish Stay Tuned by Lauren Clark.

This is my final review for the Stay Tuned Blog Tour.  And I'm very excited for this.

These past couple of days I've been posting some leading up to entries to get you guys pumped for this review.  I hope you enjoy it :)

Stay Tuned is the first novel Lauren Clark has released.  From the moment I had finished the first few chapters I could already tell who her influences were, by her writing style, without having had read her Goodreads Profile.  Emily Giffin (the author of Something Borrowed and Something Blue) and Sophie Kinsella (author of Confessions of a Shopaholic, Remember Me? and The Undomestic Goddess) are two of my favorite authors.  There humor, awkward characters, and relate able relationship problems, are what make their books so enjoyable.  And that's the exact feeling I had as I was reading Stay Tuned.

Melissa Moore is living her life by the book.  Every thing has to be perfectly planned and put into action.  That's the life of a producer of the #1 News show in the city she lives in, in Georgia.  However, as she sees the Yellow Post-its waiting for her on her kitchen counter every morning, from her husband, with things like, "Working late tonight, don't wait up", her daughter off at college , all while waiting for the deranged mother to say one loving thing to her; she can't help but feel lonely.

Tired of living her life "safe" she decides to put her new life into action.

When the two news anchors are fired after an incident on air, Melissa is made the replacement along with the flirtatious Rick.  She finds herself buying new clothes, changing her hair (with the help of her best friend), and trying to find ways to improve the somewhat estranged relationship that has formed between her and her husband.

When other problems come into the picture, Melissa has to question what has become of her life even further.  Is she cut out for this job? Can she ignore the seductive manner of Rick? Is her husband really just working late because of the promotion, or is something else going on? Has her mother ever truly cared about her own daughter?

All these questions pop into Melissa's head, as she finds herself reevaluating everything around her.

What I loved about this book were the awkward realistic moments that can happen to anyone.  The awkwardness of discussing your relationship with someone; being able to finally say how your truly feeling; and the humor that sometimes sneaks up on us in life, sometimes at a time where we're thinking, "Life sucks!"

Having worked in the News industry herself, Lauren Clark uses her experiences to bring a true feeling of understanding what really goes on behind the scenes.  I actually, I gained more respect for news anchors, because I always thought they were actors just reading off of a cue card.  But hearing everything that goes on behind the scenes, and the emotions that can't be faked when going on air and bringing a new story in, are incredible.  Such hard, demanding work, and a lot of the times doing stories you would never want to report, because they are just too painful.

Check out Stay Tuned and find out what happens to Melissa, as she embarks on this life changing journey.  The book is available in both e-book (for 99 cents!!) and paperback on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Or for more information check out Lauren Clark's website: http://laurenclarkbooks.com/.
