Olivia Bean, Trivia Queen

Set to be released on March 13th, 2012 Olivia Bean, Trivia Queen by Donna Gephart is the story of Olivia Bean, a twelve year old girl who love trivia and watching Jeopardy! every night between 7:30 and 8:00, without any disturbance whatsoever!

Olivia Bean is the Queen of Jeopardy trivia.  There is only one thing stopping her from following her dreams of being on Kid's Week (a once a year event featured on Jeopardy): Geography.  Olivia can't stand geography! It's her worst subject.  And to make matters worse she has her annoying neighbor, Tucker Thomas, making fun of her for it! (Plus there is that whole unfortunate Hula-Hoop instance, that happened two years ago, but let's not get into that...).
While Tucker is going around calling her, Olivia-Hula-Hoop-Queen, Olivia is trying to ignore him and do everything possible to get on Jeopardy before her last year runs out.  12 is the cut off, and Olivia is at her last straw.

Can she make it? Or will her dream be crushed, by not only Tucker (who might not be as bad, as she always thought), but also by her dad, (who ran off two years earlier, leaving Olivia, her mom, and brother all alone)?  Will Olivia learn to finally accept that her father isn't coming back, and that Neil, her mother's boyfriend, who has just moved in, might not be the bad guy she put him out to be?

Overall Rating:

I really enjoyed this book.  I thought it was a cute book for the younger age group.  I'd say between 12 and 15, because it does deal with a few mild darker issues that younger girls might not truly understand yet.
Olivia Bean, Trivia Queen also featured some pretty awesome facts, that I never would have known, if I hadn't read this book. An example, "Did you know the average human being makes twenty-five thousand quarts of spit in a lifetime, enough to fill two swimming pools?"

Pretty gross right? Yet, remarkably fascinating at the same time, right?? :)

The Romance Bookie :)
