"Man, I needed a new pair of old shoes."

"Man, I needed a new pair of old shoes" is definitely the most perfect phrase ever right now, when it comes to my reading! I needed more than anything to read a book that wasn't necessarily planned, I felt like reading, hadn't promised anyone to read, was a cute fun little YA novel, and romantic contemporary!
FINALLY!!

Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell was exactly what I needed!  Not only did this book have a great story line, but it also dealt with some fabulous vintage shoes!! :)

Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe is the story of a high school junior, named Chloe, whose world is falling apart around her.  She's lost her two best friends...in fact they are spreading TERRIBLE rumors about her, that honestly should have her probably questioning their friendship..., she's dealing with a grandmother whose suffering from Parkinson's, dealing with the rumors her so-called best friend spread about her, and dealing with the fact that maybe, just maybe, not everyone loves her spunky go-getter, heart-of-gold attitude.

Welcome, Caller, This Is ChloeChloe is realizing that possibly she hasn't been the best friend that her friends needed, especially her friend Brie, whose been spreading the terrible rumors.   To make matters EVEN worse, her new guidance counselor has just contacted her and let her know that project proposal for her JISP (Junior Independent Study Project) has been rejected, so she has until exactly 7 p.m. that day to figure out what she is going to do for the project, unless she wants to get an F on her permanent record.

That's when Chloe's counselor signs her up for her school's sinking radio station...a station she had no idea even existed.

Inside that station there are people she's never met before...in fact, her friend Brie would have labeled them as "Outsiders".  She realized right away, there is no way she would ever fit into that group.  But none the less, she has no choice. She can NOT get an F on her record! That is just completely out of the question, when it comes to her Doctor ridden family, of whom both parents and her five brothers are all a part of.
The only person, she has to truly talk to is her Gram, but unfortunately her Gram has been acting less and less like her self, because the disease is slowly taking its course.  But that's when the radio station's Duncan, comes into Chloe's life.

Will Chloe be able to save 88.8 The Edge?  Will she be able to save her friendship with her two best friends?  Will her grandmother finally realize she may need help?  What about Duncan?  What is up with that boy?  And will Chloe ever have enough of vintage shoes???

I thought this was a super cute novel!  I really enjoyed it! I loved the more serious aspect of it, in between, because overall it made it feel very realistic.  I had a terrible experience with friendships in high school, and I loved how this novel addressed the many issues that can occur with friendships in school, and throughout life for that matter!  Duncan's story, I really enjoyed reading.  And even though I didn't relate to Chloe outgoing personality, I loved it because she was fun, spoke what she thought, and overall never hid her emotions (which if you think about can be a pretty good thing)! :)

So if this sounds like something you enjoy reading, and you want the questions answered above, then pick up your copy on Tuesday (May 1st), when Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe comes out in bookstores!!

Happy Friday!
