Guest Review from Erin: Siege and Storm (#2 in the Grisha Series) by Leigh Bardugo

Hey Everyone! Hope you're all having a great week!

From Goodreads:

Darkness never dies.

Hunted across the True Sea, haunted by the lives she took on the Fold, Alina must try to make a life with Mal in an unfamiliar land. She finds starting new is not easy while keeping her identity as the Sun Summoner a secret. She can’t outrun her past or her destiny for long.

The Darkling has emerged from the Shadow Fold with a terrifying new power and a dangerous plan that will test the very boundaries of the natural world. With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. But as her power grows, Alina slips deeper into the Darkling’s game of forbidden magic, and farther away from Mal. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.

Erin's Thoughts:

Awesome!! So I am going to just keep this review short and sweet! If you saw, you'll remember that I just LOVE Shadow and Bone/Leigh Bardugo and this one was no different! Siege and Storm was a great sequel! It had all the things that I loved from Shadow and Bone with some new adventures, excitement, and characters! (Of course, the most famous new character being Sturmhond, who is an excellent addition to the cast!!)

Siege and Storm begins a little after Shadow and Bone ends and it quickly jumps into action. Like the first, there's no boring moment in the entire story -- it just keeps you reading and reading until the end.  And one of my favorite things about the first book was the Grisha world.  It's just so beautifully done! I have such a distinct feel about it and it's clear that I can see it in my head and the sequel keeps up with it very well.  Anyways, if you liked the first one, I have no doubt that you'll enjoy the second one just as much, if not more, than Shadow and Bone! And if you haven't read either, I very highly recommend that you do!! It's a great series and Leigh Bardugo is an amazing writer!!

Overall rating:

I'm almost done with Ruin and Rising, the third and final installment in the Grisha Trilogy, so hopefully that review will be up soon as well!! Happy reading! :)
